Money

The local currency is the Mauritius rupee.

It is divided into cents. We find bills of 25, 50, 100, 200, 500, 1000 and 2000 rupees, and coins of 5 and 10 rupees, as well as 5, 20 and 50 cents.

Credit cards are accepted in every hotel, shop, operator and tourist agencies.
We find cash dispensers in average populations.

The traveller’s checks are accepted and changed easily.

Banks

You’ll find banks in every big city and in all tourist places. You can change money and traveller’s checks, and generally it has a cash dispenser that accepts most credit cards.
It opens from Monday to Friday from 9 to 15 (17 Friday).
