Canary IslandsCurrency, banks, change
Euro replaced peseta on January 1, 2002. Banks usually open Monday to Friday from 9 to 14 and certain agencies open on Saturday from 9 to 13. In almost all cities and major resorts stations, we can withdraw money from cash dispensers with Eurocard, MasterCard and Visa. Make your supply of money if you go to the smaller islands such as Palma, Gomera and El Hierro. Cash dispensers aren’t always stocked due to their isolation.
No problem to change your currency, there are several change offices scattered throughout the archipelago. The hotels also change.
The checks are changeable both in banks and hotels.
The payment card is very common in hotels, restaurants and shops. However, provide you money if you go away from the capitals and tourist hotel areas, even to pay services (various rental, ferries, etc.) restaurants and small hotels.
