Currency, Change
1 € = about 3.20 reais.
Since 1994, and after numerous changes, the national currency is real reais to the plural. There are parts 1, 5, 25, 50 cents, and also pieces of 1 real. It seems fairly between them, so we have to be careful.
The credit cards are widely accepted. Visa, MasterCard, and American Express can be used in many hotels and restaurants, in big stations, and of course allow you to withdraw money. The other cards are accepted at banks (Itau, 24 hours, etc.) much less implanted outside big urban centers.
Traveler’s checks offer protection against theft, but they are not very practical to use. In case of loss or theft of your credit card, you should call the emergency number of Visa USA PVC at 141058 38 36, in Brazil at 000811933 5589.
Budget
Paradoxically, the most expensive cities are in the poorest regions. In the South, prices are certainly the lowest with a higher quality and a wider range of services.
