Key information for your trip
Guadeloupe

Here is a summary of the information you should know before flying off to the country.

Sail by boat during a cruise Guadeloupe

Beaches, coconut palms, sun and trade winds, all together to make Guadeloupe a favourite place for navigation. Discovering its coves, bays, lagoons, beaches protected by coral reefs and proud seabed, prolonging the trip to small jewels like Santas, Maria Galante or Deseada.

Our base at Pointe-à Pitre with its numerous boats will allow you to escape and navigate in the best position
Money

Currency is euro since January 1, 2002.
Provide liquid for all small purchases.
Note: check out (i.e. checks issued by a bank in the metropolis) is almost systematically rejected. It is preferable to have liquid.

Postal checks and repair card, allowed withdrawing at post offices to 305 euros a week.
Banks
Open from 8 to 12 and 14 to 16, except Saturdays and Sundays, and sometimes on Wednesday afternoon.
During the summer holidays from June to September, the hours may change opening from 7.30 to 15

Useful information

The identity card is enough for those who are confined to the French territories. A current valid passport is preferable to go to the next English-speaking islands and, in this case, you should theoretically have a return ticket or continuation of the journey.

Customs

Routine controls, but notably more common for those returning from free ports as san-Martín and Saint-Barthélemy (attention to the cameras and other electronic devices).

Weight and Measures

Metric

Electricity

220 V 50Hz Mail works well in the West Indies. However, if your shipment is urgent, use Chronopost.
