Key information for your trip
Croatia

Here is a summary of the information you should know before flying off to the country.

Sail by boat during a cruise Croatia

The long years of purgatory of post-war period make from now on left the past. The tourists start to come many to rediscover this small unfortunately ignored country. Croatia has the privilege to offer an architectural heritage of an incredible richness, with a single situation, with horse between the East and Occident, attractive transition between Northern Europe and the Mediterranean, rather exceptional crossroads of cultures and influences! Illyriens, Othomans, Hungarians, Austrians all, left their mark there.

One also admires a marvellous coast, protected by close to... 2 000 islands and small islands on 1 750 km; only 66 islands are inhabited. The coast escaped besides by miracle from the concrete and shells small ports, still with the shelter of the promoters. Without forgetting the pearl of the Adriatic, Dubrovnik, classified by UNESCO with the world inheritance of humanity.

Money

The currency is the Croatian kuna (HRK) which means marten. The Croatian currency is stable. It is declined in parts of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 lipas and 1, 2 and 5 kunas. There are bills of 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1 000 kunas. The euros are easily exchangeable, not the pounds. Many establishments adopt double posting: in euros and kunas to facilitate the appreciation of the prices.

Most of the time the payment is made in kunas, but it is possible that euros are also accepted. A good means if you travel with other people and prefer to avoid moving you with too important sums, is to withdraw a large sum each one once and to divide it.

Payment

Do not forget, before leaving, to note or learn how the number to call in the event of loss or of flight of your credit card. Bank cards: The charts EuroCard, MasterCard, Visa or American Express are accepted in Croatia and there are increasingly widespread.
All the post offices allow the money withdrawals with MasterCard or a Cirrus and more and more with Dinners Club. They are also accepted in the majority of the stores, hotels and restaurants of the large cities.
A majority of the tourist villages have a slot-machine. The services attached to the chart American Express are also valid in Croatia near the Atlas agencies and of the branches of Privredna Banka.
